Recreation Marine Dash
Paragon Plastics manufactured this featured ABS plastic fascia assembly for use in a marine dashboard application. Beginning with a customer supplied print we validated the design using the CADdrawing. The base materials consisted of ABS plastic with grey sterling filmas well as vinyl-over ABS and black ABS. The majority of fabrication was carried out using a 3-station rotary thermoforming machine and a 5-axis router, with overall +/- 0.250 mm and +/- 2 degrees tolerances. Specific components were bonded using methacrylate adhesive. The studs were designed to withstand 20 in/lbs of torque. As part of our AS/ISO Quality System, in process testing verified color, material, and functionality., Digital calipers were used to verify dimensions.
We produced 1,000 of these ABS plastic fascia assemblies which consisted of three primary components: a dash, an arm rest, and a gauge support. The dash measured 0.150" x 32" x 38", while the arm rest measured 0.150" x 16" x 26". The gauge support was 0.150" x 24" x 24" in measurement. All together, the part weighed an estimated 8 lbs.
